data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Even if you aren\u2019t in the midst of a breakup yourself, tapping back into those emotions from past experiences can help, said Dr. Jaryd Hiser, psychologist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv68imuf000j3b6i2f40llk0@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cWe all fall into this trap of avoidance of these emotions,\u201d he said. \u201cTo be able to go back to those, think of it as a processing of that time.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv68imuf000k3b6ieijqu0b1@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            That process may lead to more acceptance of those experiences and that it is OK if you never fully feel OK about them, he added.    <\/p>\n<h3 class=\"subheader\" data-editable=\"text\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cI think of it as being a really easy way into mindfulness,\u201d he said. \u201cIf we were able to be mindful all the time, that would be great, but most of us can\u2019t \u2026 tap into that.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clv68imug000o3b6i3bpjn143@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            He likes to work with patients on mindfulness by pairing it with activities they enjoy \u2013 because it is a lot easier to stay in the present when you are doing something you like, he said.
