That\u2019s up from 11.5% the week before. Cases are particularly high in the Northeast, where\u00a0more than 13%\u00a0of tests came back positive. Positivity rates in the region have been over 13% since late January.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clt09gmr600053b6h6cm0bgrj@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            However, these levels are below what they were at this point last season, when about 15% of tests were positive, both nationally and in the Northeast.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clt09gmr600063b6h8gqg9t5j@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Outbreaks of norovirus are most common in the late fall, winter and early spring, according to the CDC.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clt09gmr600073b6h29b7pi0j@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Norovirus is\u00a0the\u00a0most common cause of acute gastroenteritis\u00a0\u2013 often called a stomach bug \u2013 in the United States, according to the CDC. It causes 19 million to 21 million illnesses every year, most often in crowded environments such as nursing homes, day care centers and cruise ships.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clt09gmr600083b6hp8cor3wv@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            It can spread when you come into direct contact with someone who\u2019s infected, consume food or liquids contaminated with the virus or touch contaminated surfaces and then put your fingers in your mouth. The CDC warns that an infected person can still spread norovirus two or more weeks after symptoms resolve.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/clt09gmr600093b6heizdiqt9@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The most common symptoms are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain. There\u2019s no specific treatment for norovirus, but experts recommend drinking plenty of liquids to avoid dehydration.
