Kennedy Jr., posted a notice to the Federal Register saying the requirements of the waiver \u201cimpose costs on the Department and the public, are contrary to the efficient operation of the Department, and impede the Department\u2019s flexibility to adapt quickly to legal and policy mandates.\u201d    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7pdujc500093b6mnn9lb0kd@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            The move drew alarm from open government advocates and policy hawks, who said it would only serve to shroud the departments decisions in secrecy.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7pdujc5000a3b6m7f8irbik@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            In his senate confirmation hearings, Kennedy pledged \u201cradical transparency\u201d during his tenure at HHS.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm7pdujc5000b3b6mzcm0uc4y@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cRFK Jr\u2019s decision to eliminate notice &amp; comment for certain actions enables HHS to operate in secret &amp; without public participation. HHS can ignore the views of key stakeholders like researchers &amp; health advocates. HHS will make crucial public health decisions behind closed doors,\u201d wrote Lawrence Gostin on X.
