However, the CDC notes that the current risk to the public is \u201cvery low,\u201d as the reported illnesses happened before the affected onions were removed from food service locations.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2wbrnbo00073b6msxykeaph@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            \u201cIt is not necessary to avoid eating onions or other foods made with onions,\u201d the CDC said.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2wbrnbo00083b6m105mzy6v@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Last week, supplier Taylor Farms issued a recall of four onion products due to \u201cpotential E. coli contamination.\u201d McDonald\u2019s stores in affected areas have temporarily stopped using slivered onions, and other fast food restaurants that received onions from this supplier \u2013 including Burger King, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC \u2013 have proactively removed fresh onions from their menus at some locations.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2wbrnbo00093b6m3i5ei6ku@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            It is not likely that the recalled onions went to grocery stores or directly to consumers, the CDC said Wednesday. Diced onions used at McDonald\u2019s have also not been linked to this outbreak, according to the FDA.    <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph inline-placeholder vossi-paragraph\" data-uri=\"cms.cnn.com\/_components\/paragraph\/instances\/cm2wbr4kl00003b6migsuwyay@published\" data-editable=\"text\" data-component-name=\"paragraph\" data-article-gutter=\"true\">            Beef patties used on Quarter Pounders were also part of the investigation, which started on October 22.
